Cyber Liability Concerns
Tom Walker, RPS Bollinger

Concerns about cyber threats, attacks on corporate networks and theft of member information are growing issues for private clubs. Given the types of personal data that clubs often obtain through the admissions process and ongoing, they may have a growing level of risk from cyber security attacks that need to be addressed in their risk management and insurance programs. This program will address limitations in most policies and expand upon the relevant coverage available to address these growing exposures.

Social Media: Platforms & Privacy
Hillary Scott, MembersFirst, Inc
.
Social media seems like a double-edged sword to many in the club industry. It can help clubs engage with their members, increase club use, and expand the member experience beyond the club’s physical borders, but it can also introduce a new range of concerns for clubs to consider. Learn about the pros and cons of various kinds of social media platforms and critical steps your club can take to achieve success when using them.

Why Private Status Should Matter—to You & Your Members
Brad Steele, NCA

A club’s private status is crucial. Without keeping an eye on maintaining private status, club leaders can lose exemptions from many federal and state laws, as well as what makes a club special to its members. Additionally, without proper attention paid to the club’s finances, leaders of a club could place its tax-exempt status in jeopardy.

This program looks at what it takes to keep your club private and the most common problems that cause tax-exempt status to be revoked. Specific areas covered include:
•The impact of nonmember business activities
•Guest policies and reciprocal arrangements
•The importance of selectivity in evaluating prospective members
•Advertising and its impact on both private and tax-exempt status
