A Whole New Ball Game: A Golf Facility Survival Guide for the Next 15 years
Presented by Brad Klein
This session explores the culture and demography of the modern private club market, how it has evolved, and the challenges this poses to general managers. The emphasis will be on the golf side of things, but also ties in to course design and maintenance, clubhouse services, and the politics of relating to club members as well as to other facility professionals (director of golf, greenkeeper).
Bradley S. Klein is the longtime architecture editor of "Golfweek" magazine. A former PGA Tour caddie, he holds a Ph.D. in political science and was a university professor for 14 years before "retiring" to devote himself full time to golf writing and consulting. A frequent industry lecturer, he has been a design consultant to dozens of private clubs, municipalities and resorts. He is the author of seven golf books, including the definitive biography, "Discovering Donald Ross," which won the USGA International Book Award in 2001. Last year the American Society of Golf Course Architects honored him with the Donald Ross Award for lifetime achievement.
